Clean Braces Equal Healthy Teeth and Gums

Keeping your braces clean is extremely important, will help prevent problems and keep discomfort to a minimum. With your clean braces, you give your teeth more room to move faster You mouth does not become a breeding ground for bacteria if you keep your teeth clean.
Food particles left among the teeth in your mouth breed bacteria which makes the food acidic; so, it is imperative that your mouth remains clean. If not, the body’s immune system can respond by bringing in extra blood cells which cause swelling of the gums. This can delay tooth movement.
It's isn't all that easy to clean braces. Your tooth has a naturally clean and smooth surface.
But, with braces we created multiple food traps. The presence of braces obstructs the natural cleansing process of your teeth as they restrict the movements of your cheeks, lips and tongue. It's important to brush after eating. It will take longer to brush!
Try to remember your teeth into categories 4 quarters as the way dentists do. It should take no less than 30 seconds for a person to brush one quarter of their mouth, thus ensuring good dental hygiene.
Brush the outsides too. Many people miss the gum-line of the upper back and lower front teeth. It's important to brush the front as well as backs of your teeth. Clean braces should sparkle!
Consider cleaning aids to help in keeping braces clean. Engage in more frequent cleanings at the dentist. It is also important to have your teeth cleaned every three or four months.
Be sure to use the concentrated fluoride toothpaste we prescribe. A mouth wash with fluoride in it can also be used by you. Fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth.
Manual toothbrushes, which have small heads and soft bristles, will work best for keeping your braces clean. Because the heads are smaller they are better at getting in between teeth even if they are crooked. It is always a very good idea to soften the bristles of the toothbrush before brushing your teeth, by running warm water over the bristles.
Electric toothbrushes can work, if they are of good quality. The Rota-dent toothbrush has a small tip that fits under the wires and between brackets effectively and it does last long. To keep your gums from swelling it is essential to floss.
